GCS Tech Department -School Level Technician Schedule Changes
Effective August 2025
Beginning August 2025, office hours will be instituted for school level technicians and their assigned schools. This setup is to provide consistency throughout the district and to eliminate confusion as to when technicians are at specific schools.
Here is what office hours will mean with the 25-26 school year.
- All technicians are expected to be onsite from 8 am to 10 am at the school they are assigned for that specific day.
- A technician can stay beyond office hours if the remote school does not need assistance that day.
- There can be a few exceptions such as critical testing needs but that is to be planned out in advance and should be as minimal as possible.
- A general guideline will be no more than 3 to 5 instances of a schedule change in a semester.
- Technicians can provide remote support for emergencies and if they cannot resolve remotely, they will address when they can return sometime after 10 am.
- The other option is for the technician or the school (they are not at) to call the district helpdesk (423) 798-2626 or a CO Technician for assistance.
- If those means do not address the emergency or a school level technician is needed to resolve, then the remote school should expect that technician to come back sometime after 10:00 am to address and will simply need to wait until that time.
- Student devices – The technician and student device coordinator are expected to have a plan to address student device issues when the technician is not onsite. The technician can return to that school after 10 am to coordinate device repairs with the device coordinator.
