This year our district is hosting Course II on June 24-28 from 8-3:30 PM at the Central Office Boardroom. However, you are free to register for a session anywhere in the state for a week that suits your schedule. For more information about the Early Reading Training program, please see the description below.

This summer, the department will provide the opportunity for educators to participate in Early Reading Training Course I and Course II. Participants will understand how children learn to read based on brain science and how to use high quality instructional materials to teach foundational skills. Course I of the Early Reading Training is presented virtually in an asynchronous format, while Course II is presented in-person in districts across the state. Since 2021, more than 50,000 educators have completed the asynchronous Course I.  Additionally, more than 17,000 teachers, leaders, and instructional coaches have completed both Course I and Course II.  Over 97% of those attending agreed the training prepared them to better support their students in developing phonics based reading skills, implement high-quality instructional materials for reading foundational skills in their classroom, and engage students in research-based best practices.

Participant registration is now open for Early Reading Training Course II, a week-long in-person professional learning experience taking place across the state this summer that will build participants’ understanding of how children learn to read based on brain science and how to use high quality instructional materials to teach foundational skills.

Registration for in-person Early Reading Training Course II can be accessed using this link.  We encourage you to share the following information about the course with your teachers, especially new teachers and teachers who have not yet participated in Early Reading Training. Feel free to include anything about your own experiences with ERT when you share this information with them.
All participants attending Early Reading Course II must complete Early Reading Course I before attending. Participants are required to bring or have access to their high-quality foundational literacy skills instructional materials to be most productive during the training.

Teacher stipends are not available for the in-person Early Reading Training this summer due to the limitations of federal relief funding. However, teachers will be credited with 30 professional development points or TASL credit upon completion of the training.

NOTE: Week 1 online training is the only training required for license renewal.
