Email for West Greene HS Faculty and Staff

The email accounts listed below are accounts created with the new greenek12.org mail server. Your username is listed below and is the first part of your email address. (e.g.- baxleyk@greenek12.org). The password is wghs. You may elect to change the password at any time and can do so by going to the web page (http://mail.greenek12.org) where you can check your email. Here are the particulars for setting up email accounts in Netscape.

POP3 servername – mail.greenek12.org – (Note that mail has been added to the address.)

SMTP servername – mail.greenek12.org – (Note that mail has been added to the address.)

You will only need to add mail to the address when you set the account up. You will still get your mail at greenek12.org so your address has not changed. Be sure to remember your password!

Web-based Email Access – http://mail.greenek12.org

You log in with your username and password listed below. Many people are familiar with web-based email sites like Hotmail or Netscape WebMail and like to use them when they are not at their home or office computer. If you use the web site to check your email, here are some things to remember:

· You have the capability to use an address book and create separate mailboxes (folders) on your email account from the web page but they are stored on the email server. These are not the same as your address book and folders in Netscape, which typically resides on your local hard drive. One good thing about the address book and folders being on the server is that they follow you wherever you check your email from as long as you are checking it through a web browser.

· If you check your email from a web browser and only read your messages, then the next time you receive mail in Netscape Mail it should still be available to offload from the server in Netscape Mail. If you read the mail and then delete it in your web browser, then it will not be available and in effect has been deleted from the mail server.

· If you scroll down below the mailbox summary, there are options to change your password, forward mail and other things that would be of interest to specific users. If you need assistance refer to the help link provided on the webpage.

Account Restrictions - There will be account restrictions for each account that users should also be aware of.

· Any mail that is 45 days old or older will be deleted from the mail server.

· Mailboxes will be restricted to 4 mb in size so large attachments will be limited.

· The maximum number of messages in a user’s mailbox will be 150. If you offload your mail from the server regularly then this will be no problem.
