MATH 3

Below are a list of links and activities that have been compiled to enhance the classroom curriculum, while giving students the opportunity to address the Theory of Multiple Intelligences identified by Howard Gardner.  In most cases, links and activities are closely related to the topics and themes covered in the curriculum.  Some links and activities, however, may divert from textbook content.  These links will take the viewer outside the Greene County Schools Web Page.

Bodily Kinesthetic
1.2.a  Choose an activity.  Using ordinal numbers to list all the steps to completing the activity.  Ask a classmate to follow the steps to see if they included all the steps necessary to complete the activity or if
more steps were needed.  Make corrections in your directions if needed.  Give the list to your teacher. 
Logical Mathematical
1.3.a  Create at least ten patterns using odd and even numbers, leaving the last three numbers blank  You may create more patterns if  you like. Give to a classmate to complete the last numbers.  Check and discuss with your classmate.  Give completed problems to your teacher. 
Verbal Linguistic
1.4.a  Go to the Web Quest site "The Great One: The Great Pyramid of Giza."  Click on number 9.  Complete the problems that are given, follow the directions for getting your problems check, and when the problems are checked make a copy to give to your teacher.
Visual Spatial
1.5.a  Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphs to write numbers.  Research and find pictures of Egyptian hieroglyphs. Make a number chart (1-100) using Egyptian hieroglyphs.  Display the chart for your class.

3.4.a  Write at least three story problems that involve addition of numbers that are to be rounded.  Ask a classmate to complete the the problems.  Check their answers and discuss the results with that person. 
Visual Spatial
3.5.a  Draw a simple map that shows road distances between imaginary cities.  The map should also show other data.  Write some addition and subtraction problems about you map.  Ask a classmate to complete this activity also.  Trade papers and solve one another's problems. 
3.5.b  After competing activity 3.5.a compile the data in graph form to compare correct and incorrect responses.

4.2.a  Design your own system of measurement.  Choose five things in the classroom to measure and keep data on the measurements.  Demonstrate your system of measurement to your class.

4.3.a  Find the temperature for your town every day for a week.  List 3 major cities and find their temperatures for the same days.  Compare the temperatures with a graph.

4.5.a  On the computer create a calendar page for the current month.  Make sure to include all important events.
