2006-2007 School-Parent Compact

Goal: The parents, school staff, and students share the responsibility for improving

the academic achievement of each child so that all state standards are met.

I.        Curriculum and Instruction

A.     Each child will receive daily learning opportunities from a variety of learning models and strategies.

B.     Appropriate assessments will be used both formally (3 week reports, grade cards, weekly folders, state reports, etc.) and informally (student feedback, reward trip, etc.) to determine student success. These assessments will be communicated to students and parents by our staff.

C.     Character education will be an on-going learning strategy to teach respect and the other pillars of character.

D.     Parents will be asked to help at school both by survey and by school staff.

E.      Our school staff and parents will expect and provide the very best curriculum opportunities for each child.

II.     Parent Responsibilities to their Child’s Education

A.     See that each student has appropriate supplies and is at school each day for the entire seven hour school day.

B.     Communicate often with each teacher by signing weekly folders, 3 week progress reports, report cards, e-mail, phone calls, and attending parent conferences.

C.     Discuss homework and school work daily with their children; and teach each child positive ways to relate to their peer group and school personnel.

III.   Communication

A.     Review school compact annually and share at PTO Open House

B.     Maintain and encourage communication the following ways: phone, e-mail,

newsletters, student planners; and parent/teacher conferences.
