| Our general use computer lab has been
totally renewed with computers throughout. There are thirty-four new
units for student use. A variety of reading, mathematics, and
keyboarding drills are done
daily in this lab. Keyboarding is a newer requirement of the
state. The Type to Learn software is used this skill.
Standards of expected performance and assessment have been
established. Star Reading and Math have been given in the K-5, the general use lab, and the middle school lab. Web-based Renaissance Place is being used more to replace the Star Testing software. Other useful software programs continue to include Knowledge Works for primarily mathematics review and drill, and Orchard for a wide range of subject areas. Essential Skills software has been used for language arts and vocabulary development. We have also installed the software that correlates with our new reading series and is used with Kindergarten through third graders. Reading Coach software has been used during the school day and for after school sessions to enhance reading abilities of our students. TCAP review activity in our computer labs included the online grader program, the web-based Thinklink programs, and the various websites for review on the student help page at: http://www.greenek12.org/mosheim/helplinks.html. It is available on the school's website. |

| Above, Title I teacher, Brenda
Winslow works with primary grade students in our new Linux lab.
Linux is a network operating system which offers software featuring
various spelling word games such as the old favorites Hangman and
Pacman. Hand-eye coordination and word association is also
emphasized in some of the activities. Activities which
differentiate the four common mathematical operations are also
beneficial according to Ms. Winslow. Learning is disguised as
game playing with a menu subtitle "Childsplay." |
