New Computers!!!!

This year our school added 28 new computers to our big lab. These computers are Gateways and a few Dell computers. We also have a new Smart Board to use in the computer lab. We are very excited to have these new computers and can't wait to use them!!


Microsoft Office 2007!!!!

This year faculty and staff will be using Microsoft Office 2007. Outlook is also the new email client. Our technology coach, Rebecca Cobble, has hosted two training days this year on Office 2007.

Computer Mice!!!!

The small computer lab now has opitcal mice for all computers.


Computer Teacher!!!

The  computer teacher this year at McDonald is Mrs. Holly Goodrich. This is Mrs. Goodrich's third

year teaching in the Greene County School System.  Mrs. Goodrich is a 1999 graduate of West Greene High School and a 2004 graduate of East Tennessee State University. She is a 2007 graduate of East Tennessee State University  earning a  masters degree in Educational Media Technology.




Technology Committee!!!

The Technology Committee at McDonald Elementary School, consists of teachers who
use technology in their classrooms and are willing to try new ways of
introducing technology into their teaching.  The commeittee meets every
second Tuesday of the month. The members are:

              United Streaming

     
    The classroom teachers use United Streaming to introduce new skills, review state standards, and provide their students with a new perspective on learning.  United Streaming provides students the opportunity to visit other areas of the world through a virtual experience.  Students are able to experience new concepts first hand through these educational videos that cover all subjects and grade level.
     
    Type to Learn


    Studnets in grades 5 - 8 have typing once a week.  They are gaining knowledge of the keys on the keyboard.  They are able to use learn the location of the keys by using this exciting interactive program.  Students are able to transfer their knowledge of the location of the keys to composing a word document, creating a web page or powerpoint presentation and researching on the internet.  Students in grades k - 4 have access to the program and teachers incorporate typing into their own computer schedules.  The program offers primary, intermediate, and advanced levels to accodomate the various levels of the students.
     

     
    Essential Skills


    The Essential Skills program is mainly a K - 3 program that offers primary teachers an educational tool that engages the students in their learning.  The program offers review in math, reading, phonics, and provides them with writing practice.  The program offers levels in the program to give teachers the flexability to provide each child with their own educational plan.
