TSAP, pronounced T-Sap, is an acronym for Tennessee Students Against Pollution.  TSAP is the student affiliation of the Tennessee Environmental Education Association.  There are TSAP chapters all across the State of Tennessee.  McDonald's TSAP Club is a service based organization that takes on various environmental projects at school, in the community and county wide.  The club's environmental commitment has resulted in several awards for the club: TSAP Club of the Year 1993,1994; Young Ecologist Action Award 1993; President's Environmental Youth Awards - First Place 1991, First Alternate 1992, Fourth Alternate 1993, First Alternate 1994, Third Alternate 1995, Second Alternate 1998; National Energy Education Development Award State Winner 1989-1996, 1998; Good Sports Always Recycle Award 1997. Recycling, energy conservation, and community clean up are among their projects.

"You are not really recycling unless you're buying recycled products"

The point of this year's theme is that if we do not buy recycled products we are not creating a market for these items.  If there is no market for recycled products, manufacturers are not going to bother to recycle.
Point system:    Students will receive points for bringing in newspapers, plastic cola bottles, plastic milk cartons (please rinse) and aluminum cans.  Students may also receive points by bringing in proof of purchasing recycled products.  Students will also receive points for completing and returning pledge forms.
Prize: Points will be tallied and the classroom with the most points will receive an ice cream sundae party.

FCA
The McDonald FCA was started in 1996.  We are a Junior High branch of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  FCA's outreach to junior high athletes and coaches began in early 1978 when Guideposts Outreach Ministries in New York funded a pilot program in Texas and Oklahoma.  Activities there provided such a successful model that the junior high program was incorporated in FCA's National Ministry.  The program began with a handful of huddle groups in Texas and Oklahoma in 1978 and presently includes some 200 huddles across the Nation.  Initially, only junior high boys were involved, but the program soon spread to include girls as well.

The purpose of FCA is to present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the Church.

The McDonald FCA holds most of their meetings during after school hours.  The club has had many youth gatherings with the assistance of area churches.  FCA is open to all varsity athletes grades 5 - 8.  Hopefully these members learn the fundamentals of the Christian Faith, then proceed on to high school huddle programs where they build upon this knowledge and experience leadership opportunities.  The McDonald FCA is sponsored by Shane Waddle and Tammy Turner.

McDonald History Club
The McDonald School American History Club was organized in 1993.  To our knowledge, it is the only one of it's kind in the Greene County Elementary School System.  The club was started by History teacher Tammy Turner in response to a number of students who showed a great deal of interest in the subject of History.  Members of this club must maintain a grade average of 90 throughout the school year.  The club's biggest project is their annual Veteran's Day Program.  Students raise money in the beginning of September for this program.  All area veterans are invited to attend this student initiated program.  The club is also involved in cleaning up old abandoned cemeteries.  The main purpose of this club is to teach patriotism and citizenship.  It is also hoped that students will always strive to preserve things with historical value.
