A/BIC |

The Academic/Behavior Improvement Center (A/BIC) serves as the alternative program for Greene County Schools. It is divided into two sections: elementary level, serving students through grade 8, and the high school level, serving students through the twelfth grade.
Students are assigned to A/BIC for serious infractions of school conduct, including, but not limited to zero tolerance violations. While attending A/BIC, said students are not allowed to visit or participate in any of the "home" school activities, including sporting events, dances, etc. A/BIC is considered a punitive placement and should a student not be successful at A/BIC, they can be expelled from the Greene County School system. Parents or other specified adults must provide transportation to A/BIC. Students are not allowed to ride the bus or to drive themselves.

Students in
elementary ABIC have the opportunity to maintain
both regular and special education programs. Placement here is a time
that can
be used to aide students who are behind academically due to behavior or
absenteeism. Daily behavior contracts are utilized to keep parents and
other
invested parties, such as caseworkers, probation officers, and judges,
informed
and to assist in building skills necessary to be successful students
once
returned to their home school.
