DEBUSK HAS TECHNOLOGY
FAIR
The 2005 DeBusk Technology Fair was held on Tuesday, May
10, to showcase the use of technology by students during the 2004-2005
school year. After Principal Debra Jo Boles welcomed everyone,
Technology Coach Judy Collins gave a timeline PowerPoint presentation
that covered the Launch 2 year - receiving the new technology, conducting
quality job embedded and after school professional development for
teachers, and having the students use technology as a tool for learning.
She then awarded certificates to the six on-site mentor teachers:
Carol Adams, Vanessa Gallihar, Christy Hoeke, Amy Luttrell, Jean Ottinger,
and Jennifer Whitson. Upon reaching the goal of 110 hours of
approved after-school training, each received a laptop and each agreed
to be a mentor for their peers.
The most exciting part of the evening was the presentation
of student projects. Kindergarten students had a musical slide show
review displaying the highlights of their year. Several grades shared
collaborative PowerPoint presentations: 1st grade presented "The
Fabulous Five Senses", 3rd grade shared "The Solar System" and "Field
Trip Choices", 5th grade discussed their "Favorite Fables", and 7th grade
had insights with their "Aspects of the Holocaust". The 6th grade
students had created video book comercials and embedded them into a PowerPoint
presentation. After the students shared these presentations, the
audience was invited to view the grade level project displays which included
newsletters, flyers, brochures, signs, collages, and printed PowerPoint
presentations.
