DEBUSK RAISES $2,100.03 FOR HURRICANE RELIEF
After Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, Principal Chris Malone
encouraged the teachers to help in the relief effort. Everyone got
involved. Students could chew gum or wear hats in their classrooms
if they gave a donation. Teachers could wear blue jeans one Friday
for a donation. One second grade class had a bake sale, and the other
second grade class had a sucker sale. The PTO donated $75 from their
snack shack sales. The faculty/staff challenged the volleyball team
to a game, and students could attend for a donation. The culminating
event, however, was "Taping Principal Malone" to the gym wall. More
than one-half of the student body donated $2.00 for a piece of tape.
Although we had fun raising the money, we never loss sight of the purpose
- to help others. Hopefully, our funds will be added to money collected
by other Greene County schools to adopt a school in coastal Mississippi.
