Fifteen Greene County teachers have just
completed the Intel Teach to the Future Essentials Course, and are now
certified Master Teachers for Intel. Frank Thornton, a Senior Trainer
for Intel, was the instructor for the 40-hour course taught at DeBusk Elementary
School on January 14-15 and February 17-19. The free in-service program
uses a train-the-trainer model. Any Local Education Agency can apply
to Intel and extend these opportunities to their teachers.

Through the Intel® Teach to the Future
Essentials Course - the same 40-hour course that has been engaging educators
around the world since 2000 - teachers learn how, when, and where to incorporate
technology tools and resources into their current curriculum with the goal
of developing their students' higher-level thinking skills. They
learn new ways to create assessment tools and align lesson plans with state
and national standards. This course incorporates hands-on use of
the Internet, Web page design, and multimedia software. Over TWO
MILLION teachers in 30 countries have been trained, and Intel expects over
2.5 million teachers to be trained worldwide by 2006.
