Scenario one: Currently using Outlook Express

1. Messages and Addresses: Open Outlook 2007- Go to File – Import and Export – Internet mail and addresses – Outlook Express – Leave both check boxes – Next – Duplicates yes or no - and you are finished.

Scenario Two: Currently using Netscape 4.x

1. Messages: Open Outlook Express – Go to File – Import – Netscape Communicator – browse to C:\Program Files\ Users \ (profile of your user)\ Mail \ and         click OK.

2. Addresses: Open Netscape 4.x Mail – Communicator – Address Book – (Check the Directory Window to see how many different address books they have) – Highlight the first – File – Export – Name File same name so you know which one it is – Save to Desktop (LDIF).  Repeat for each Address Book listed in Directory.

3. Open Outlook Express – File – Import – Other Address Book – LDIF – (Desktop) Open first address book and then repeat as each is added.

4. Outlook Express – File – Import – Messages – Netscape Communicator – Next – Browse to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\(Profile)\Mail – click on Next  (NOTE:  Be Sure Netscape is closed! ) Try All – repeat for any individual folder if it shows any errors.  Finish. Go to Last Step.

Scenario Three:  Currently using Netscape 7.x

1. Addresses: Open Netscape 7.x – Window – Address Book – Check to see how may active address books and highlight first – Tools – Export – Name File (LDIF) – Save to Desktop and repeat for each address book.

2. Open Outlook Express – File – Import – Other Address Book – LDIF – and import each address book from Desktop.

3. Messages:  (Try to talk them out of it first!)  If they insist, check to see if Netscape 4.x is installed.  If not it will need to be installed.  It will be used as the conversion tool.
a. Go to Documents and Settings – (Profile) – Application Data – Mozilla – Profiles – slt folder – Mail – Local Folders.
b. Check dates (change to View Details) to be sure they have been using this profile.
c. Copy Files and Folders that do not have extensions to the clipboard.
d. Go to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\(profile)\Mail.
e. Look at the inbox, sent, etc and check to see if they have any old mail in them.  Rename them inboxold, sentold, etc. if they show anything greater than 0KB.  Paste in files from clipboard.
f. Open Netscape 4.x and double click on each mail folder.
g. Close Netscape 4.x
h. Open Outlook Express – File – Import – Messages – Netscape Communicator – Next – Browse to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\(profile)\Mail.

5. Next - Try All – repeat for any individual folder if it shows any errors.  Finish.
Go to Last Step.

Last Step for all Netscape to Outlook Express Transfers

a. Open Outlook 2007

b. File – Import and Export – Import Internet Mail and Addresses – Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x, 6.x or Windows Mail – Next – Allow Duplicates or Replace Duplicates – Finish.

c. Go to Netscape 7.x or 4. X (The previous program used for mail) Go to Mail Preferences – Server Settings – Leave Messages on Server to ensure that they can be added to Outlook by just checking mail.
If you have time:

1. Empty the Trash on the old e-mail program before you transfer messages.
2. Run Symantec to scan the mail folder before the transfer.
