Elementary School Counselors help children succeed in school and life by teaching career exploration, skills for learning, friendship, health, and safety.
Counselors strive to help children by promoting respect for self and others, wise decision making, and encouraging personal responsibility.
 

What do elementary counselors do?

•     Teach school counseling curriculum in grades K - 8
•     Offer individual and small group counseling
•     Provide crisis counseling
•     Assist concerned parents
•     Provide community referrals
•     Serve on multi-disciplinary teams
•     Offer parent education classes

A SPECIAL FRIEND
Sometimes I am happy and sometimes sad.

Sometimes I'm scared and sometimes mad.

When I need a friend to listen, someone to understand,

A place to go and talk a bit, the counselor can lend a hand.

We might read a story or play a game, watch a film, or just chat about why I came.

When I need help, it's nice to know that the counselor's office is the place to go.
