Renaissance Place- Our school is now using Renaissance Place technology, which allows the school system to centralize the Renaissance software, student progress data, and state test scores into a single, convenient, web-based management system. In addition to providing tremendous savings in time, money, and technical support, Renaissance Place allows teachers to bridge  student performance data across schools, classrooms, grade levels, and subjects at any time. Our students are currently using the following Renaissance Place software:

Princeton Review- Students in grades 4-8 met with Mrs. Bell and set goals for Princeton's Benchmark Test #2 in reading and math.  Students who reached their goals in both tested areas were recently treated to a "Birthday Party" to celebrate.  Students will complete the final Benchmark by March 30th.

(FALL 2006)

Princeton Review- Our application to continue as a Year 1 school using the Tennessee Formative Assessment Program's Princeton Review was accepted.  Students and teachers in grades 3-8 will use the web-based program for
math, reading, and language arts practice, remediation and assessments.

(SPRING 2006)

Princeton Review- (TFAP)- Students have taken their final Benchmark Test for the year.  Teachers will be able to compare the results with both the first and second Benchmarks taken earlier in the year.  Due to our positive experience and success with Princeton, we plan to reapply to the Department of Education so that we may continue the program next year.

School Messenger- Our school recently purchased the School Messenger system designed to empower educators with parent notification solutions and services. http://www.schoolmessenger.com/

The attendance secretary, Mrs. Debbie Ricker, began using School Messenger on January 23, to notify parents their child was absent from school and remind them to send a note when their child returns.  The automated system has pre-recorded messages that can be used to call a selected group of students or the entire student body.

Parents can expect to receive notifications or messages regarding report cards, attendance, school functions, sports, teacher conferences, the school calendar, etc.

Teachers will soon be able to use the School Messenger InfoLine. InfoLine is an interactive bulletin board or voice mail for teachers to leave messages that can be accessed by parents and students.  Parents and students can also leave voice messages for teachers. Teachers may choose to leave messages regarding homework assignments, test dates, field trips, and upcoming school events.

TETC Tennessee Education Technology Conference- This year's conference was attended by Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Thornburg, and Mrs. Teresa Guinn.  The purpose of the three day conference, held November 30-December 2,  was to aid TN teachers in the integration of technology into the curriculum, and is sponsored by the TN Dept. of Education. The conference provided hands-on workshops, interest sessions, and an endless array of contacts and vendors.  Our teachers will share what they learned with the faculty on January 3.

(TFAP) Tennessee Online Formative Assessment Program- The TN Department of Education selected Camp Creek along with 36 other TN schools to pilot a new technology program.  Our school will participate in an online formative assessment program through the Princeton Review, Inc. beginning in September.  This initiative will enable teachers to determine the progress students make toward mastering various content areas prior to taking the Terra Nova test in the spring.

The web-based program is designed to assess TN content standards and state performance indicators (SPI's) for students in grades three through eight in the areas of reading, language arts, and math.  It gives teachers, parents, principals, and administrators an early indication of which students may need more time to master a concept before moving forward.  In this way, the students are given access to additional resources to quickly get them back on track.

TFAP training was held in Franklin, TN on September 7-8 for principals and project managers.  A train the trainer session was held at Greeneville High School on September  12.  All participating teachers were trained at Camp Creek on September 21, by Project Manager, Mrs. Johnson and trainers, Mrs. Thornburg and Mrs. Southerland.

Donated Computers-Camp Creek  received a generous donation of 20 Pentium III Compaq computers and a server with Windows 2000 and Windows NT operating systems to be used in two classrooms. The donation was made possible by fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Cindy Crum and Ms. Toni Law, Administrator and Mr. Jim Bennington, Information Technology Specialist, of the Social Security Administration Hearing's Office in Kingsport, TN.

Technology In-Service- Teachers spent March 4, participating in technology training.  Teachers learned a little about our school's three digital cameras and two video camcorders, our new SmartBoard, how to protect  their school and home computers from viruses, how to install Windows' updates at home and school, some suggestions for integrating the day's demonstrated technology into their classrooms, and helpful links on our school's website.  They then took a survey to inventory their technology skills, learned about new software Mr. Hogan, Mrs. Lindamood, and Mrs. Southerland are currently learning and plan to teach the rest of us to use next fall, and spent the afternoon updating their classroom webpages.

ETSU-Thanks to Mrs. Jan Sayne, Camp Creek was again able to receive 20 donated computers from East Tennessee State University.  This is the third year we have received such a generous donation.   The Pentium III Dell computers with Windows 2000 operating systems are being set up in the our newest computer lab.  This gives our school a total of three labs.  This lab will be able to run all of our newest student learning software programs and our presentation software.  We would like to thank Mrs. Sayne, Jamie Simmons, and David Robinson again for making this generous donation possible.

Camera & Camcorder- Our school recently received a new camcorder and digital camera with printer.  This equipment will be placed in Mrs. Southerland's classroom.  Teachers can check out the equipment for field trips, class projects, presentations, etc.  Mrs. Southerland is currently learning to use a new video editing program, Adobe Video Elements, so she can help teachers and students create their own mini video productions, add sound, clip art, pictures, and then burn onto a CD-RW to preserve their work.  We are hoping to complete a year long 8th grade project with the new equipment and software beginning next fall.  The final project would be presented at next year's 8th grade banquet.
