Overview of CAT (Computer Assisted Testing) for Teachers

Features:

• Multiple choice or true/false format
• Mixes questions and answers so students sitting next to each other will not have the same questions or anwers
• Allows you print different versions of the same test.
• Scoring is instant and saved when student completes test.
• Management program

• Double-click the CAT icon to start the program.  When you are ask to type in your first and last name type TEACHER in all caps.  Remember this program requires upper case letters.  After entering TEACHER in all caps your screen should look similar to this:

• Press ENTER to go to the teacher menu which looks similar to the image below.  Click on an option from the menu to learn more about it.

• .To enter questions for a new test or an existing test type 1 and press ENTER.  Press ENTER again and you will see this:

• Type the name of the new file or existing file to add questions.  If you can't remember the name of an existing file to add questions to, use option 3 to View/Delete questions.  After you enter the file name press ENTER.  You may now type a test question such as:

• After you type the question, press ENTER to get this:

• Enter the number of choices you will have for the answer.  Type each possible anwer and press ENTER after each one.  You will then be ask to type the letter of the correct answer.  Your screen will look like this:

• Press ENTER to continue.  You will be ask to verify the question and the correct answer:

• If all is correct type Y and press ENTER.  Do this for all questions.  When you are finished typing questions, type END instead of another question and press ENTER to return to the teacher menu.
