Nolachuckey Library is busy during Read Across America Week!

Read Across America Week was a very busy week for students in the library at Nolachuckey Elementary School. Students participated in some problem solving activities to go along with their reading.

Nolachuckey fifth grade stacked cups for the hat on The Cat in the Hat.  They were given cups and paper and they were supposed to plan a design and see how high they could stack the cups.  Each time it fell, they were supposed to come up with a new design to try to get their tower to be taller.

Nolachuckey 6th-8th grade listened to "Oh, the Places You'll Go" and then designed parachutes to reach their dreams.  They had to design their parachutes and then test them on how many seconds they could stay in the air.  (This is why they have phones out in some pictures..they were using the stopwatches on the phones to time their parachute).  They then had to redesign some things to try to get it to stay in the air longer.
